What software does Vratyas use to program the drums for his albums?

The only thing I can say is that the last two albums were recorded with real drums (Boltthorn), and the last album recorded with drum computer was "Magni Blandinn Ok Megintiri" in ´97.

So you arent sure what kind he used? A friend and I are thinking of starting a viking metal band and the drums are awesome on Magni Blandinn Ok Megintiri.

If you are thinking to start a band...good for you, is to choose a drum software that "fits" to your sound and not "copy" something because it sounds nice or you like it I wish you the very best with your upcoming band!!! And do not give it up for any reason!

...for example I use CUBASE even if I don't use drums but only tambourines, timpani and bodhrans. Cubase has several soundsets ready to edited. If you can be supported by a good synth or keayboard you can edit their drumset presets usin' every type of sequencer otherwise wait for Vratyas Vakyas's answer to be completely sure and satisified Regards.

p.s.: I just modify the sounds present in my synths to give'em a personal touch even if sometimes some sounds are so good that only some little effects make'em more than great.

Back then I worked with a "Yamaha RY 20" . But we did not use any of the sounds at the studio in the end, except for the high-head, but sampled sounds. The drum-comp. was used to create patterns only. Beside that, even if you use the same progs., you still have to see that the most important thing about sound is the fact what kind of equipment the studio uses, not only related to drums, but also general stuff like mixing-pult, EQs etc. In the end every sound is a mixture of all equipment used, not the result of a guitar, an amp, or a prog.

Thank you very much for your responses. I will have to look into those programs that were mentioned. This band is still a long way from starting. We just thought of it the other day because my friend and I just recently heard Falkenbach and were very inspired. So its just the 2 of us now and neither know how to play any instruments. Should be interesting. Once again thank you.

The Yamaha RY 20 is not a software, it's a hardware drum machine I guess.. -kb

For me the best software drums is Ezdrummer for Cubase (Drum kit from hell). It's sounds better than most of other plug-ins, even without customization and use of additional EQ's and effects. Besides that, it has a lot of embedded loops, so that if you haven't enough ideas, you can use optional things.
