Hello, I'm looking for the music from old Falkenbach demo tapes. Where is the infomation about the demos you see on metal-archives from? As I know, these tapes are not to buy and laeknishendr and promo 95 are the only tapes which have been spread on the web.
Is there any plan to (re)release or digitalize them?

During the last years I collected the old songs from my multi-trackers and posted some informations on Facebook. Maybe the infos were gathered that way. The idea to release tape material is not new, but throughout the years it never happened due to several reasons. I don´t think those tapes will be released anymore, but you never know, maybe one day.

what is about a digital release of the material, e.g. via bandcamp?

First of all you have to keep in mind the sound quality of those old tapes. Much of the material would need a real restauration, as most of the tapes are in extremely bad shape after all those years. And this costs money. Second thing is: This material was never released officially. I cannot see too many good reasons to change this at the moment.

Would it be an alternative to re-record one or several songs from the old demo tapes for one of the next albums, e.g. as a kind of bonus track(s)?

That´s something I regulary do. I use older melodies for new songs, or re-record older tracks completely for actually every album.

The rerecordings are quite nice, but they actually have a different atmosphere than the original recodings, because they were recorded under different conditions.
Some bands like Emperor (Call from the Grave, Rehearsals 1994) and Behemoth (The Oak Between the Snows) have spread their rehearsal material (even in lowest quality) through unofficial sources to make them public and prevent them from been lost. I think that could be a way for Falkenbach too. Did you digitalize the tapes to prevent them from ongoing decay?

Of course not just the atmosphere is different. Often I just use parts of older songs or ideas to create something new. And to be honest, I am still very much into those old recordings. I started to get some of them from tapes to the PC, but most of the old tapes are in a really bad shape meanwhile. Like I said, this is a question of a real restauration which is needed, not a question of low sound-quality of old recordings.
However, I still can only say what I said in one of my last postings: For now I cannot really see too many good reasons for why I should feel an urgent need to spread this old material. Moreover not in such a bad shape. Again: it´s not about low sound quality of old home-recordings, it´s about severely damaged tapes that simply need a professional restauration if you even want to think about releasing this material.

Sorry for the late reply over 3 years now, but how often have you used these tapes? Where did you store them? Did these tapes simply decay over time?
