First of all. Do you have any updates for us about the new album? You stated in another thread on this board that it would most likely not be done before the end of 2008. Can you tell us about new songs (lyricwise or musicwise)?
For now there is nothing new worth to be mentioned about a new album.
As neither melodies nor lyrics are completely done so far, there´s also nothing to say about that.
But the topics of the lyrics probably are not going to change ever.
There are several ideas for a new release, and as soon as there´s something
worth to be mentioned, you´re going to find it here at the forum.
Can we expect live performances somewhere in 2009 perhaps?
There´s a chance, but at the moment it seems to be unlikely to see Falkenbach live
on stage in 2009.
Last but not least. Since you ran skaldic art as a label to give young talented bands a chance. How do you think about the internet as a marketing plattform for unknown bands, regarding MySpace for example? Do you have plans to reactivate your label?
There are no plans at all to reactivate the label. About the internet I guess every band has
make up its own mind about that. Personally I don´t care too much about those
plattforms, so I am not the right person to ask I guess.

1. You have thought about filming some official video clip for the band?
Since the very beginning of the collaboration with Napalm Rec. there were ideas
about a video-clip for Falkenbach. So far it always suffered from a too small
budget, as such a clip probably would be far too expensive to make sense for
a label in a commercial way.
2. You will upload news images of you in the official website?
That´s not sure yet.
3. You have thought some that by not play live, your talent itself this wasted? it is a much better to create an solid line-up and play in live.
No, I don´t think that "talent" is wasted by not playing live. As a matter of fact,
the sales could be probably at least be doubled by playing tours and festivals,
but up to now this did never play any role for me, and it won´t in the future.
So, higher sales are wasted by not playing live indeed. Falkenbach was and still
is a studio project, noone knows how this could be realized on stage, and most
of all noone knows if it even works live. We rehearsed a couple of years ago, and
some of the chosen tracks sounded really great, others did not. The live atmosphere
changes songs massively, and alot of aspects of the songs can´t be realized on
stage. Choirs for example, or doubled voices.

1. Are there any news concerning a rerelease of old demo-material? In the past you did not eliminate the opportunity of such a release.
A while ago I spoke with Napalm Rec. about this idea. There are several problem,
most of all the sound quality of the old material, and the fact that I do not own
the old 4-track recorder for example. Probably alot of stuff had to be re-recorded,
and I am not sure yet if this would be a good idea. Demo material should be as
original as possible, with as less changes as possible in my opinion. And I am
afraid that this could be the point where this idea comes to an end.
I´d have to enter the studio for about one week just to check how much of the
old material can be used, and if it´s too less, or too much to work on, this week
would be wasted money, so no label will pay for something that maybe will get
to no result. Nevertheless, this is something I´ve in mind here and then, we will see.
2. On the last two albums you had more or less a studio line-up. Are they meanwhile also included in the writing process? Or will Falkenbach mainly remain as "your" band, enriched with other studio-members?
No, I´m still the only person responsible to the melodies and lyrics.
There are alot of aspects influenced my them during the recordings, quite a
number of good ideas can be found on the albums, contributed by them.
Boltthorn really adds his talent to the drumming and comes up with great parts,
Hagalaz enriches the songs with outstanding accoustic guitar - and key ideas,
and Tyrann offers a fantastic repertoire of screams. Without those details
Falkenbach would sound different, and I am glad that those people were there
to make Falkenbach sound this way.

- What is your view on chance and destiny? Do you think a proper behavior or way of thinking could change one's luck in his/her favor? I'm not talking about social behavior that attracts humans good-will.
Talking about my very own opinion, there is fate. But it´s related to a few aspects
of life only. Most of ones life can be influenced by acting, even fate itself depends
on the way of acting in one or another way. But a few things in life are
independent from the way one acts or thinks.
- Did you have any experience to prove you that any gods, with the believed attributes and/or names exist? If yes, do you share them with other people?
Unfortunately nothing in life is proven. Attributes for example are just ideas put
into words, but they are different for every person. When I am talking about any
attribute, I probably have got something totally different in mind than someone
else. Reality is relative, my own opinions and experiences are as well.
To come to a point - Gods are a parts of my own reality indeed, yes.
But I do not use to discuss those things with other people, as it doesn´t make
any sense in my opinion.

Why haven't you done the screaming parts on the last album yourself?
On the last two albums Tyrann contributed the screams, because he offered
the perfect skills for that.
Who will be producing the next album? Any chances, that Markus Stock will be involved?
Have you thought about working together with him? It could be interesting! Or do you prefer doing that stuff by yourself?
For now it´s not sure where the a new album will be recorded. There are good reasons
for recording at Tidalwave Studio again, but there are also reasons for why I
keep my eyes open for alternatives. At the moment I check some studios to see
if those are able to realize what I have in mind.

Do you have any tattoos like runes or parts of the edda or something like that?
And what do you think about "heathenish" tattoos?
No, nothing like that, no tattoos at all.
If people like it, why not, I am not the one to rate other people.
But such things are no my cup of tea.

I'm just wondering what your thoughts on your early works are. I know a lot of musicians eventually grow tired of their early works so I was wondering if you still get as much out of them now as when you wrote them.
The old material offers me more and more. The older it gets, the more I myself
can find by listening to it. There was never a time I did not like what was created
under the banner of Falkenbach. Of course there are aspects I´d change if
some of the older tracks would be recorded today, but in the end those songs
are children of their own time. I love them the way they are as well as I love
them the way they could be today.
Also, you have re-worked songs like Leiknishendr numerous times, and I was wondering if you had any other old songs which you have re-written at all and if you plan on releasing them on future releases.
Yes, there´re quite alot of songs that changed their face during the years.
Everything in life changes, my own life changes, and so do the songs.
Just the lyrics did not change, except for some details that did not change the
meaning itself.
Finally, if you don't mind answering, what can we expect from the new album in regards to style, themes, length, band members etc?
At the moment there is not too much I can tell you about that.
All the Falkenbach albums are different somehow, on the other hand I guess they
all are typical Falkenbach, and so the new album will be.
As it´s not sure where the new material is going to be recorded, it´s also not
100% sure who will participate on the recordings.

Technical question: what guitars, amps, keys, acoustic guitars etc did you use throughout all those years you're creating music? Ah, and I guess you didn't use a bass guitar on "En Their Medh..." at all, is it true?
Unfortunately I cannot remember all the equip I used since the beginning. Alot of material was created and recorded
with my old Aria guitar, but nearly all the other instruments were taken from the studios the albums
were recorded. If you´re interested in such details, check www.TidalWave.de, there you can find
at least some of the informations, I guess. Regarding the bass on the 1st released album: yes, the whole
album was recorded without bass, and same goes for "Magni..." as well.
One of the best songs of "Heralding - The Fireblade" was "Skirnir" in my opinion. It reminds me kinda opera movement, especially in the end (reminds me dance of trolls). Don't you plan to write someday a conceptual album (let's say "a viking-metal opera" based on one of the sagas of "Edda" or "Heimskringla"? I think it will be something really fantastic.
No, I don´t think so to be honest. This song - as nearly all the songs - received loads of further details
during the work at the studio. For this song Hagalaz for example contributed quite alot of
melody-lines for the background.
Negruvoda
What is the meaning and idea behind the song "Roman Land"? Is it about
barbarian incursions into Roman lands during the Voelkerwanderung?
The main idea behind this song was in fact the inroads on roman forward posts
and camps by germanic tribes.

Why are there so few updates on this forum?
Quite alot of things happened, sometimes things change massively in life. I simply had no mind to care about music, there were other things, much more important things. And to be honest, for now this did not change mainly.
What do you think about the small community of this forum, and would you like to see more activity here?
Well, quantity and quality - there´s a difference for me.This forum is not meant to be a plattform to commercialize or promote Falkenbach. You´re right, at this forum you cannot expect new postings every couple of hours, sometimes you cannot even find one new thread in a couple of weeks. On the other hand, you´re also not going to find all that superficial crap typical for all those very activ forums. I´m happy with the forum the way it is.
